Stephen Young, a retired Elementary Principal with 30 years of experience in the York Region District School Board, has been a pioneer in implementing Restorative Practices (RP) in schools since 2002. With a Master's degree in Restorative Practices from IIRP Graduate School, he authored The Restorative Principal and led RP programs, staff training, and community education.

Shelley Steele, a retired Child and Youth Counsellor and Safe Schools supervisor for the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board, has over 20 years of experience in educational support. Recently certified in Positive Psychology, she has been instrumental in promoting school climate, student well-being, and mental health initiatives.

Stan Baker is a retired educator from the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, served as the Safe Schools Resource Teacher and Board Coordinator for Restorative Practices, overseeing Violence Threat Risk Assessments and school climate surveys. With a background as an elementary principal and as a behaviour specialist, much of his work on absenteeism focuses on early detection and intervention for at-risk students.


Stephen Young’s "The Restorative Principal" delves into the transformative power of restorative practices in education, offering school principals real-life examples and strategies for creating a fair and inclusive school environment. Through his own career experiences, Steve illustrates how to move from authoritarian to authoritative leadership with humor and relevance.
